The main reason why it is important to understand figures of speech in the Bible is to interpret Scripture accurately. Serious misinterpretations of Scripture come from calling something figurative that is literal and calling something literal that is figurative.
Isn’t it great when someone says, “I forgive you”…just like that? Without pleading or begging for mercy, we’re simply forgiven. That’s probably one of the best feelings in the world.

It’s hard to imagine what heaven will be like. But the Bible does say it’s a real place and there’s nothing you can do to earn your place there. You just need to accept God’s free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
