The Living Bible renders David's prayer (Psalm 19:13): "Keep me from deliberate wrongs; help me to stop doing them. Only then can I be free of guilt and innocent of some great crime."
Although money is not sinful or suspect in itself, it is not what brings lasting contentment, fulfilment, or satisfaction.
Denying oneself is not to be equated with losing one's uniqueness or becoming of no value.
Nobody is a whole chain. Each one is a link. But take away one link and the chain is broken.
We praise God by expressing words of honour to Him for His character, His name, His will, His Word, His glory, etc.
God's hand is not so short that it cannot save, nor is His ear so heavy that He cannot hear. Whether you see Him or not, He is at work in your life this very moment.
May He give us ears to hear, hearts to trust, and minds to rest in Him. Our God is uniquely and ultimately trustworthy!
Thoughts, positive or negative, grow stronger when fertilized with constant repetition. That may explain why so many who are gloomy and grey stay in that mood...and why those who are cheery and enthusiastic continue to be so.
My message is not that you go hungry and give up all nice things. I just say you give up control of them.
