Grace received but unexpressed is dead grace. To spend one's time debating how grace is received or how much commitment is necessary for salvation, without getting into what it means to live by grace and enjoy the magnificent freedom it provides, quickly leads to a counterproductive argument.
Got the rules memorized? “Nobody act big. Nobody act small. Everybody act medium.” Such good advice from a clubhouse full of kids, who, by the way, are pretty good at practicing what they preach.
You know something? That still, small voice will never shout. God's methods don't change because we are so noisy and busy. He is longing for your attention, your undivided and full attention.
God's Word is filled with exhortations to implant His truth in our hearts.
Let’s launch into the remainder of this week with an intense interest in quality control. Let’s move out of thick ranks of the mediocre…and join the thin ranks of excellence.
Critics have denied it. Cynics have laughed at it. Scholars have ignored it. Liberal theologians have explained it away (they call that “rethinking” it), and fanatics have perverted it.
Up-front heroes are often seen as being larger than life. Overstated. That’s unfortunate. Hidden heroes are often seen as being smaller than life. Underrated. That’s most unfortunate.
I am born to fight against innumerable monsters and devils. I must remove stumps and stones, cut away thistles and thorns, and clear the wild forest.
Every church has a few catfish as well! They’re there to keep all the cod from getting soft, mushy, and tasteless. Second, have you given thanks for them lately?
Everybody who spends even a little while in the Family can quote Proverbs 3:5–6, but unfortunately, an equally significant verse 7 goes begging.
