We've all had to struggle through the desire to “get even.” In fact, we've all acted on it at one time or another, allowing our hurt or pain to dictate our response to the words or actions of another. Too often we focus on our perceived “rights” more than we think about the well-being of others or what the right act might be. David had his own opportunity for vengeance. After being pursued by Saul all over southern Israel and with the opportunity to take his vengeance, David resisted and offered us a glimpse of what it looks like to turn the other cheek.
