Dear Friend,

We call it having the last word—the final words in an argument or discussion, especially words that decisively or definitively end it. But did you know the last word is also in the Bible?

One of the wonderful things about our heavenly Father is that He is a God who speaks. In fact, the whole Old Testament is a kind of interaction that began when God spoke to create and then spoke to people. Down through biblical history the conversation continued as He spoke in many ways by various means. People responded either with faith and obedience or disbelief and rebellion.

And then God spoke the last word.

God’s last word is Jesus. Jesus is the definitive and final Word of God to all people. The conversation about salvation and relationship with God ends with Jesus. “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son” (Hebrews 1:1-2).

This is what John was getting at in John 1. He’s saying that God chose Jesus as His messenger to tell us about Himself and reveal the Father. In the teaching, life, and work of Jesus Christ, God communicated everything necessary for salvation. Jesus embodied God’s total message of salvation to man. That is why He is called the Word of God. That is why He’s the last word.

Jesus Himself also had a last word. In essence He said, “Go spread the Word” (Matthew 28:18-20). It was a word for you and me as believers and it is a task in which we can partner together.

At Insight for Living Canada we are all about spreading that Word and sharing Jesus with the people of Canada. Jesus Christ is God's personal message of love, truth, and peace to us. He tells us to believe in Him and spread the Word about Him to everyone.

Vision 195 is Insight for Living Ministries’ vision to take God’s Word to all 195 countries of the world. Here in Canada, a country of tremendous ethnic diversity, God has also brought the world to us. One way we are working to obey Jesus’ last word to us and fulfil Vision 195 is by faithfully broadcasting God’s Word on air, in print, and online.
