We can learn a lot about our relationship with God by studying the life of Peter. From his insightful affirmation of Jesus as the Son of God to receiving a sharp rebuke (Matthew 16:13–23), from his risky defence of Jesus in the garden to cowering in the courtyard (John 18:10, 17, 25–27), Peter’s journey with Jesus represents a study in contradictions. But, after Jesus’ death and Resurrection, a seaside reunion with the risen Lord taught Peter that being a disciple requires one primary qualification: a willingness to follow.
